A Day of Rest

We laid on the beach most of the day - until some clouds decided to cover us - no rain just clouds. The we decided to take off to the Kula Botanical Gardens. We are getting good at navigating around this island - back up towards Kahului but instead of heading towards Hana we took the Haleakala highway towards Kula.  The drive is pretty - up along side of the crater. You can see both coasts - this is the road we took to get back from Hana.

The gardens are built on a slop and uses the space creatively - every crevice has a feature - the Koi Pond for instance takes advantage of a large depression in the hill.

These little critter's are not native to Hawaii. They are found in Africa. They were introduced when a pet store owner let them accidently go.
